A major oil producer is looking for a Sr. Reservoir Geophysicist to join their team in Qatar as a seismic interpreter in the Geoscience Group of the Petroleum Engineering Department.

Focus on:
- Structural interpretation of seismic horizons and faults using our recently acquired large high resolution 3D seismic survey, primarily in support of operations and development planning;
- Stratigraphic evaluation and reservoir characterisation of the subsurface, together with other disciplines in Geoscience Group, using qualitative and quantitative data evaluation;
- Participate in designing depth conversion schemes that are compatible with the geological data

Project Controls Specialist

A Major LNG Operator requires a Project Controls Specialist to join them on a permanent residential basis in Ras Laffan, Qatar

Reporting to Head of Project Services the main responsibilities are to:


• Establish initial project budgets and prepare subsequent budget updates for all design and/or construction activities based on an estimate of the selected design alternatives.
• Review trend analyses, budget updates and recommendations for corrective action to assure compliance with company requirements.
• Participates in the preparation of complex phases of the Project Milestone Schedule, Engineering, Construction Summary, Bar Chart and Master Project Schedule.
• Prepare Schedule Analysis Report to identify impact of progress and scope changes on previously scheduled target dates.
• Prepares Performance Measurement Summary to evaluate the utilization of actual man-hours versus budget.
• Participate in schedule review meetings to discuss project status and to assist in developing alternatives to accommodate changes in priorities.
• Provides supervision and guidance to the Cost and Schedule Engineers.
• Monitors the Contractor’s project controls performance in the area of scheduling, progress monitoring and cost estimating and provide advice as necessary to make sure the Company’s objectives are achieved.
• Provides timely advice on cost and schedule impact of changes, modifications or alternatives by keeping abreast of engineering, procurement and construction and maintain project trend and change order log.
• Responsible for the preparation of all of the classified estimates for all projects handled by the Capital Projects organization after Gate 2.

Suitable candidates will have:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimating
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost control for projects
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Optional).

Industry Experience:
- Strong oil & gas experience upstream, downstream, product storage & movement, utilities & offsite.

Lead Process Engineer - Commissioning Support

A Major LNG Operator requires a Lead Process Engineer - Commissioning Support to join them on a contract until March 2011 to be based in Ras Laffan, Qatar.

Becoming a member of the Project Management Team with responsibilities for leading a team of process engineers tasked with supporting the commissioning and start-up of 2 LNG trains and associated facilities, the Lead Process Engineer
's main function will be to lead the process commissioning activities on behalf of the company to ensure that the facilities are commissioned, tested and started-up in accordance with Project and/or Vendor Pre-commissioning and Commissioning Procedures.

Within this area of responsibility he/she will be required to:


• Ensure Project and Company safety standards are met or exceeded.
• Manage and lead the activities of a group of engineers and specialists.
• Provide technical support to Company operations during commissioning and start-up of the Project facilities.
• Coordinate and lead a team of process engineering experts to ensure that the plant is safely commissioned and started-up in accordance with Project specifications and standards.
• Monitor the activities of outside resources including contractors, vendors, and licensors during the commissioning and start-up of the facilities.

Suitable candidates will be a Professionally-qualified Engineer with at least 15-20 years Process design and commissioning and team leadership experience, including significant relevant experience on large multi-national and multi-location projects.

The position requires significant on-site leadership experience in the commissioning and starting-up of facilities in many of the following specific categories:
• Gas processing (LNG/NGL).
• Sulfur recovery (SRU).
• Pipelines and plant inlet receiving systems.
• Peripheral processing units and utility systems including: steam, fuel gas, flare, cooling water, and water treatment and disposal systems.

The position requires an ability to liaise effectively at all organizational levels and to represent the Project on Process engineering matters.

The incumbent shall also:
• Be able to cope in a positive and productive manner in a team leadership position, within a high-pressure environment as expected in a large Project with an aggressive schedule.
• Have knowledge and experience in personal computing skills, including MS Outlook, Microsoft’s Windows Office suite of applications, and process simulation applications such as HYSIS.
